What Melanotan I is

Melanotan I is a linear analogue of alpha melanocyte stimulating hormone, selective for the MC1 receptor. That selectivity is the whole difference between it and melanotan II, which is cyclic and acts across the melanocortin receptor family rather than at one of them.
