PT-141
PT-141 is a cyclic heptapeptide derived from the alpha-MSH sequence. It acts at melanocortin receptors, principally MC3 and MC4, which is a different mechanism from the vascular compounds it is often compared with. It is a metabolite of melanotan II, developed separately.
Melanotan II
Melanotan II is a synthetic analogue of alpha melanocyte stimulating hormone. It is cyclic and non-selective across the melanocortin receptors, which is the main difference between it and PT-141, its own more selective metabolite.
